I remember the excitement of Christmas Eve. I eagerly looked forward to the next day. I loved the presents. I loved the lunch. I also knew when it would happen, Christmas Day not before. I eagerly waited.
Today’s passage from Romans 8 reminds us that our present world and lives would have their share of frustrations and suffering. Paul helps us place these in the context of a broken world that God will restore. He raises our hopes to the incomparably wonderful future. He also reminds us that God will help us now, in our struggles. The Holy Spirit is given to each one of us to strengthen our faith and understanding; and to communicate our prayers direct to God.
When the world fails to meet our expectations be encouraged that God will exceed them.
