Baptisms and Thanksgiving Services
Baptisms and Thanksgivings
Baptism is one of the two sacraments that Jesus instituted for his followers to participate in. Baptism is a single act that symbolically points to the spiritual reality of a person coming to faith in Jesus Christ. This spiritual reality is captured in the symbolic washing of water. Baptism is a public act, where God’s faithfulness and grace are witnessed.
A SERVICE FOR PUBLIC NAMING WITH THANKSGIVING TO GOD
Dapto Anglican believes that all children are a gift from God and offers a public naming and thanksgiving service to all who want to publicly share their gratitude to God for the child God has blessed them with. The Thanksgiving service can be performed either as a part of a Sunday service or on a Saturday. Friends and family are welcome and encouraged to support the parents in their roles.
A SERVICE OF BAPTISM FOR INFANTS AND CHILDREN
It is with great joy that Dapto Anglican baptises infants and children of DAC congregation members. Infant baptism is a symbolic demonstration of the family’s faith and regeneration in Christ, and the reality of God’s faithfulness and grace extending to their children. Promises are made on the infant’s behalf by both parents and godparents before God and the congregation. Before the baptism, parents and godparents promise to raise their children in the same faith they share in Christ. Before God and each other, the congregation also promises to support the family in their roles as discipling parents.
Baptisms are performed during the believer’s or parent’s regularly attended service as a visual statement of faith, witnessed by the congregation of believers they share fellowship with. Friends and family are welcome and encouraged to join in supporting the baptism.
