Post-Christian Yearning and Gospel Windows

Every culture, every context, and every worldview throws up yearning or existential questions – and those questions are related to the beliefs and values of that worldview.

Buddhists are asking 'how do I avoid suffering and disappointment'; displaced migrants and refugees are asking 'how do I secure a stable future for my children'; and Christendom Westerners are asking how do I alleviate my guilt and find assurance of eternal life.

What are the existential questions and yearnings of the post-Christian Worldview (PCWV)?

If the PCWV cannot deliver what it promises, if these dreams are not realised, what feelings will result?

How do we name up this idol for what it is?

How do these yearnings provide a window through which I can begin a conversation about the hope and life that Jesus brings?

Here is a quick reference table. Use it as a mud map to think about your friends, where the PCWV offers things it cannot deliver, and how Jesus and his Kingdom offer something more profound and more extraordinary.
