Again?

The hot cross buns are flying off the shelves. The Easter eggs are being consumed in great quantity (or maybe that is just me). And the plans for the Easter long weekend are being made by people all over. There can be a question in the back of our minds, do I really need to go to church for Easter again? Every single year we hear the same story; it can become mechanical and monotonous.

The trailer for The Little Mermaid remake was released earlier this month. You gotta think, I have already seen this movie. I know all the songs. Why bother watching it again? Well, I think this story will be told again fresh to a whole new generation. And we can also relive the story.

As Christians, we constantly need to hear the gospel! It can be easy to think that the gospel is just for non-believers. However, this is wrong thinking. We regularly need to hear again the life, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus. As well as the call to repent from our sins and turn to Jesus. The more we read the gospel the more closely we walk with Jesus and away from sin.

In Deuteronomy 6 the people of God are reminded to love God with all their heart, soul and strength. To hear this every day, to impress this upon their children. Place the everywhere, check it out:

4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

Do you need to hear the gospel again? YES! Do your loved one need to hear the gospel?

YES! Hear it again and again, and walk closely with Jesus.
