The New Year

Welcome to 2025, Dapto Anglican. The new year has begun. And there is much that is new this year for our community.

The new partnership with Cambodia and Phnom Penh Bible School (PBBS) takes a first step as I head there to teach for two weeks this month. Our evangelistic efforts with family, friends and acquaintances have a new focus in Term 1 as we move towards Hope For The Illawarra (HFTI). Then, in April, our new Senior Minister begins. There is lots of new in this new year.

With all this new, let’s praise our ‘God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade’ (1 Pet 1:3-4). The newness of the new year points us to Jesus. We see what he has done, what he is doing in and through us, and what he is yet to do in making ALL things new (not just a few things). The Apostle John writes in the Book of Revelation, ‘He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true”’ (Rev 21:5).

As we welcome the new year of 2025 at DAC, may we be pointed to our new birth that is the beginnings of God making all things new in Jesus Christ.
