Post AGM Observations
I was encouraged by the attendance at our AGM this Sunday gone. The meeting as a whole was a testament to the way God is at work in Dapto Anglican at present. It is a testament to the sacrificial service of many in our community whether in positions of leadership or in other positions of service. My observation over the last eight months is that this church is a church that loves. I’ve seen this in the example of the nominators who have done a massive back to back job. I’ve seen this in the Parish Council and Wardens who have led during this season of change and transition. I’ve seen it in the Staff team and in the leaders and volunteers of our many, many ministries of this church. It was particularly evident through the yearly report, a great read and so nicely put together. I’ve also seen it in those who willingly put their hand up to serve in leadership in the coming year. In Hope for the Illawarra (coming very soon) we have been speaking about ‘Come and See’, come and see Jesus. Yes, Hope for the Illawarra is a wonderful chance for many to see Jesus. We partner with many churches in this regard. But our community life, evidence in microcosm at our AGM shows a family, the body of Christ, whose love for each other and for Jesus is another way for people to Come and See. That’s what I’ve seen over this past year as I reflect on the AGM.
